A Big Pebble
I was trained to create my models, my philosophy, my systems, and my code of ethics as I have learned to conveniently let the firmament turn around the North Star. Yet I find now with dismay that these and all fixed points are just snails among cheetahs and not fixed points at all. When I elegantly build my ideas around a fixed assumption, around macho pride, around a patriarch who says he is the darling of God, around a Newtonian law, around the well-being of our generations alone: when I weave my dogmas around what one great thinker has said, I forget that I still orient myself as a big pebble that merrily rocks and rolls with all other pebbles to the beat of a surf.
